In their mortal lives, these three sisters were nearly inseparable. When the machine age reached its height and the fabric of their reality began to unravel around them, they chose to bind themselves to one another as a means of survival. Now, living as a single mass of cyborganic tissue and metal, the three witches endure eternity together.
Witches may be my personal favorite drawing I’ve done so far through this series of 100 everyday drawings. I often strive to have some level of emotional content in my drawings, and as this cyborganic world begins to flesh out with each new drawing, I increasingly feel connected to the tormented creatures who occupy it.
With Witches, I aimed to create three fundamentally distinct characters who must have once had their own personalities and interests, but sacrificed their autonomy to hold onto what was most important to them: each other. The suffering and resignation within each of them is apparent in their quiet demeanor and hollow gazes.
My everyday drawings are available for sale in my Big Cartel shop each morning at 11 am EST. For the first 100 days, each new drawing increases in price by $1.00, starting at $1.00 on day one. Everyday 030 – Witches is listed at $30.00.
Also, in a cool bit of news, I’ve begun recording timelapse videos of the inking process on these everyday drawings. I’m adding shortened versions of these to my Instagram account @ironskullet_art and full versions to my YouTube channel. Check out the full version for Witches below and let me know what you think.
