Loaded with a tank of fuel and a head full of fury, the skullball comes rocketing to Earth. It’s been flying for countless orbital cycles and wending its way through the universe’s dying starlight. It has no clear purpose, though a brief flash in its withered husk of a brain tells it that its destination is near…
Skullball is probably the most commercial-feeling image to come out of this series of cyborganic drawings that have developed recently within my everydays. Although I’m not particularly interested in making images with broad appeal, I do want to put out something now and then on t-shirts or pins, and this image seems like a good candidate for that.
Perhaps not coincidentally, I have less to say about this one than I have on some other recent drawings, like yesterday’s Dream of Wires. This one still fits within my idea of a retrofuturistic fusion of humans and machines in a post-reality universe, though if I’m honest, I mostly just wanted this one to feel exciting.
My everyday drawings are available for sale in my Big Cartel shop each morning at 11 am EST. For the first 100 days, each new drawing increases in price by $1.00, starting at $1.00 on day one. Everyday 032 – Skullball is listed at $32.00.
