Everyday 034 – Interdimensional

Before the dawn of the post-reality, humans believed in the possibility of demons entering their world through interdimensional travel. With the barriers between worlds torn apart following the industrial rift, the creatures who managed those interdimensional portals slipped from the shadows and into the light, moving freely through the post-reality in plain sight.

I recently learned of something called the interdimensional hypothesis, which argues that extraterrestrial life forms come not from space, but from alternate realities. According to proponents, this explains how UFO sightings tend to be sporadic and why people report that one moment they can see the object and the next it’s gone. Some people also argue that this interdimensional travel explains the possibility of ghosts, demons, and in past eras, creatures from mythology.

I can’t personally get behind the interdimensional hypothesis any more than I can any other theories about alien life on Earth, though I do appreciate the fact that people genuinely believe in travel between realities. If such travel explains the presence of demons in our world, then what would a portal to the demon world look like?

For Interdimensional, I allowed that idea to percolate in my mind and gel with the post-reality that I’ve been building in this series of drawings. The result turned out to be something of a mage in a Lovecraftian style, holding his cloak open to reveal a maelstrom of tortured souls.

My everyday drawings are available for sale in my Big Cartel shop each morning at 11 am EST. For the first 100 days, each new drawing increases in price by $1.00, starting at $1.00 on day one. Everyday 034 – Interdimensional is listed at $34.00.
